I’m not going to cover backing up, installing macOS, or any of the other obvious steps. These are just the things I always seem to forget.

Rogue Amoeba recently released a simpler and less-expensive sibling to Audio Hijack Pro called Piezo (Mac App Store link). Designed for people who don’t need all the capabilities of Audio Hijack Pro, Piezo is a great little program for recording virtually anything you can hear on, or connect to, your Mac.

It works in tandem with an iPhone app that helps you achieve better sleep by sensing and automatically tracking when you lie down on the bed. The device collects and analyzes a plethora of sleep-related data such as sleep time and efficiency, heart rate, respiration, temperature, movement, snoring, room temperature and room humidity.

The basic versions only give you 15 minutes of call recording, which likely won’t be enough. You can compare the different versions here.
6) Open up Quicktime and on the menu click File -> New Audio Recording. Click the little triangle on the right of the window that pops up, and under “Microphone” select “Aggregate Input: Inputs AND Soundflower (2ch)”.
Windows 10, MacOS, and Linux: have support for the EDU5 via USB. Just connect the EDU5 via an USB cable and power up the instrument. You do not have to install drivers, just install Putty.
Tip: Always check with the manufacturer before purchasing and audio interface. Mac OS X supports the ASIO (Audio Stream Input/Output) standard which the majority of USB devices are developed for. Occasionally, some devices use proprietary drivers so double-check before spending any money.
Launch GarageBand and select a new project that best suits your need. For the purpose of this tutorial, I'll be selecting Vocals.

Then, just click the big Record button (or choose Record -> Start Recording). While recording, the timer displays the total recording time and—my favorite little touch—Piezo’s level meters, Dock icon, and Record button light up. When you’re done recording, click the Record button again (or choose Record -> Stop Recording); your audio file is immediately revealed in the Finder.
